The Meeting of Administration
10.10.2016
On October 10, LTSNU held a regular meeting of administration.
The agenda included two major topics:
- The state and prospects of development of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies;
- The status and prospects of development of the College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
The report “The state and prospects of development of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies” was presented by G.A. Mogylny. Having heard and discussed the report of the Director of the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies, the Rectorate noted that for the period 2014 – 2016 more than a third of the number of students has decreased at the Institute.
In 2016, thanks to purposeful career guidance work with graduates of secondary schools and lyceums the Institute managed to increase the enrollment of students, including on the contract form, by 66% compared with last year.
There is an active search for opportunities of effective organization of educational process in modern conditions. In particular, the Department of Documentation and Information Activities organized practical training in public enterprises in the city of Starobilsk and structural subdivisions of the university.
In 2016, it passed the accreditation of two specialties: “Documentation and Information Activities” (Bachelor, Specialist and Master), “System Analysis” (Bachelor).
The teachers of the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies are actively engaged in research activities: collaborating with Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics of National Academy of Sciences (Kyiv), and Zaporizhzhya National University. In May 2016, an agreement was signed with the Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv), whose employees are involved in licensing of the postgraduate studies specialty 111 “Mathematics”.
However, the activities of the Institute have significant drawbacks: disengagement from the career guidance by the heads of departments, serious problems in the organization of the educational process for students of full-time form of education, lack of complete informative presentation about the Institute on the University website.
N.V. Motunova spoke about “The state and prospects of development of the College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. Having heard and discussed the report of the Director of the College, the Rectorate noted that despite the fact that after moving in 2014 in Starobilsk the College had lost the vast majority of the number of students and teachers, it has restored working and functioning.
Both full-time teachers and teachers who work part-time provide the pedagogical activity. Among 23 teachers working at the college, 5 candidates of sciences, 4 assistant professors, 5 instructors with the highest qualification category, one has the first qualifying category. Educational-methodical maintenance of disciplines at the College is in accordance with the requirements.
Among the problematic issues that exist at the college activities are actual low material support of the hostel, difficult search of textbooks, most of the part-time workers are in the pedagogical part of the College, the uncertainty at the legislative level of the organization of admission and training on the educational level of young bachelor.
