“Pedagogy and Zombies”

The Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social and Political Sciences held an open lecture “Pedagogy and Zombies.”

The development of modern education is characterized by an increase of the role of popular science lectures in the course of the educational process. It became popular to invite outstanding teachers to the leading educational institutions for lectures on any topic that is interesting to the lecturer. It helps to promote the popularization of different ideas and convergence of those who teach and those who learn. As an example, we can recall the regular informal lectures on the history of rock ‘n’ roll of the Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Yaroslav Gudziak.

In this regard, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations A.V. Naboka decided to hold a similar event as an experiment. The theme of his public lecture was “Pedagogy and Zombies” devoted to the philosophical understanding of the phenomenon of mass culture as “Horror Films”. The main idea, which the author was trying to convey to the audience, is that many of the heroes of the genre “Horror Films” is a demonstration of human view of themselves, but without the “mind” and the “soul.”

The innovative subject of the lecture impressed students and teachers of LTSNU, who attended the event.
