In Poltava faculty of Lugansk national university passed APTIS testing supported by the British Council.
On October 4th, 2016 the teachers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the test with “The English Language for Universities” project at the premises of Poltava University of Economics and Trade. This project is supported by the British Council. The project’s leader, Svitlana Shekhavtsova, told the participants about the main strategies of the project, its key directions where our University will be cooperating with the British Council: “To participate in the project we, first of all, had to pass the test, but the British Council made an exception for us, having allowed to do the testing in October. However our teachers still could enjoy the opportunity to take part in the training courses, which took place in summer. After successful completion of the test we will be able to introduce the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) project at our University.
The test consisted of five parts: reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary. It is a confirmation of proficiency in the English language (B2 and above). Having passed this important test the teachers will have an opportunity to participate in the project.
This project is called “The English language for Universities” which involves about 15 universities throughout Ukraine. Being part of the program enhances the prestige of our education institution.
“In the future, we believe that the teachers of other departments will participate in the online courses. Moreover, British Council has provided a great opportunity of participation in the on-line courses to the students of our university. It is an unique chance to implement the latest achievements in teaching methods and language learning psychology. I hope that our participation will not be limited only to the training courses as this project has already been running for two years”, – Svitlava Shekhavtsova says.
