The tragedy of Babi Yar

Students of LTSNU honored the memory of Babi Yar victims.

Babi Yar became a symbol of the Holocaust in Ukraine and mass grave for more than a hundred of thousands of civilians and prisoners of war. From September 1941 until the end of September 1943, it was a regular place of execution and burial, which were carried out by the German occupation command.

The victims of the Nazis became Jews, gypsies, Ukrainian nationalists, Soviet prisoners of war, patients of the Kiev Psychiatric Hospital, and other national and social groups that have become innocent victims of the occupation authorities.

Students of LTSNU commemorated the victims of Babi Yar too. The Head of the Department of Ukrainian History N.T. Vyhvatenko held a lecture dedicated to the tragic events of 1941-1943 years.

The teacher told about the terrible events of the Second World War, the crimes against humanity committed by the occupation authorities, and stressed that such human qualities as morality, tolerance and respect for others should be the key for the modern person.

At the end of the event, students paid tribute to people killed in World War II by the moment of silence.
