Participation in the Program “English for Universities”

Representatives of the university took part in the program “English for Universities” British Council trainings in Ukraine.
The representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University participated in Teacher Development Summer School in British Council’s English For Universities Project.
The representatives of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University participated in Teacher Development Summer School in British Council’s English For Universities Project. The programme aims to make a commitment to helping Ukraine make a transformational change in the level of English among both university teaching staff and students at which they can fully participate on the international stage. The project objective is to help Ukraine create its own sustainable EL teaching capacity to take students to B2 or C1 CEFR levels; introduce standards. This will be carried out based on the recommendations of consultancies assessing what is needed to reach goals of fluency in English amongst more staff and students.
On 24-29 August 2016 the Head of Department of Romance and Germanic Philology Svitlana Oleksandrivna Shekhavtsova and the Head of Translation Studies Department Svitlana Vyacheslavivna Perova took part in Teaching at University in the 21-st Century and Academic Teaching Excellence trainings. At the classes the participants got to know about the innovations and new technologies in higher education from trainers from the British Council and presented their micro- teaching sessions in English using the learned during the school of professional development educational approaches. The former Minister of Education of Ukraine Serhiy Kvit was among the graduates, for it is never too late to study.
Program participants are planning to conduct seminars for their colleagues and students in order to disseminate acquired knowledge and skills among the staff and the students of our University. The events will be held in Starobilsk and Poltava.
