Meeting of the Academic Council

On August 30, the regular meeting of the Academic Council took place at LTSNU.

The agenda included three main issues:

• On the work results of the University for 2015-2016 academic year and tasks for 2016-2017 academic year;
• Approval of the work plan of the Academic Council on the first semester of 2016-2017 academic year;
• Approval of training plans and programs for 2016-2017 academic year.

Serhii Viktorovych Savchenko was the first to report on the work results of the University for 2015-2016 academic year and tasks for 2016-2017 academic year. He once again reminded that the 2015-2016 academic year was quite difficult, because the University had continued to work efficiently not only in war, but also to develop and successfully implement educational and training process. “Today, starting a new academic year, we can say with pride: University is alive and well! And I am sincerely grateful for those students and teachers, administrators and employees of all structures” – the rector said.

According to the decision of the Academic Council, this year will be put online lectures, which will allow neutralizing the disadvantages of distance education, rationing schedule to optimize the learning process.

The Academic Council noted that the result of hard work became indicators of the entrance campaign in 2016. In general, more than 3,000 people will be enrolled to the university and its subdivisions in 2016 that up almost 30% compared to the last year. This is the best result among the temporarily displaced higher educational establishments of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

During the meeting the Chairman of the Supervisory Council of LTSNU, People’s Deputy Vitaliy S. Kurylo gave a speech. He congratulated everybody on the beginning of the new academic year and wished them creative inspiration and success. Vitaliy Semenovych awarded the Director of Lysychansk Pedagogical College Galyna Minenko with a diploma of the Ukrainian Book of Records, in connection with the record setting in the category “Public Events”.

The secretary of the Academic Council Galyna P. Schuka introduced the draft of the work plan of the Academic Council on the first semester 2016-2017 academic year, which was reviewed and approved at the meeting.

The Head of the Department of planning quality management of the training process Valentyna Lesnova reported on approval of the curricula and programs on 2016-2017 academic year. She noted that before the start of the new academic year, changes were made to the curricula, which are now in line with European guidelines and greatly facilitate opportunities for academic mobility.

According to the results of the secret ballot, the Academic Council of LTSNU recommended to the Rector, the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Serhii Viktorovych Savchenko to participate in the contest for the vacant position of corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Also among the others the Academic Council listened and took the question of the recommendation for printing training manuals of S.A. Vovk, O.B. Balatska, A.V. Bader “Armed Violence in a System of Power Relations” and approval of topics master’s thesis on a specialty “Ukrainian literature” of the postgraduate student of LTSNU Alina E. Ermolenko.
