Independence Day of Ukraine

LTSNU joined the district celebrations of the Independence Day of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian nation’s history has events of high importance, which do not lose their relevance in our time. One of these events is the attainment of independence in 1991, which was the result of the centuries-old struggle of the Ukrainian people and its outstanding sons for freedom of our country.

Independence Day is the main state holiday of Ukraine, celebrated annually on August 24 in honor of the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR. This year was no exception, especially today the university and the whole Starobilsk land celebrate 25 years.

LTSNU joined the district celebrations, which began with an unusual performance of the main national song in the form of the All-Ukrainian flash mob “Sing the Anthem of Ukraine Together”, which caused a positive feedback from all participants.

Traditionally on this day, a minute of silence in memory of all soldiers who died for the independence of Ukraine.

Among the honored guests at the event was the Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Supervisory Council of LTSNU V.S. Kurylo, the Chairman of the Starobilsk State Administration A.I. Garkavy, the Chairman of the Starobilsk District Council N.A. Kulachka, who congratulated the residents and guests of the city and wished peace and prosperity to the citizens present.

Starobilsk active residents, including the director of the LTSNU college N.V. Motunova  were awarded with diplomas of the District Administration and District Council for conscientious labor for the good of the state, significant achievements in professional work and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Independence Day of Ukraine.

On the area of the city residents and guest of Starobilsk saw the exhibition of works made by local painters, masters of arts and crafts, where were present works of LTSNU students of specialty “Design”.

Volunteers and employees of the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation, within the “Heart of Ukrainian” organized a master class on making souvenirs in the central square of the city. Everyone was able to make his own gifts for members of the armed forces of Ukraine and residents of cities and towns, which are close to the demarcation line. “This action created with the support of volunteers who work in settlements located in the vicinity of the contact line. Our purpose is to support the people and the military with the help of small gifts, and we are confident that Ukraine will win,” – the head of the sector of student social service of LTSNU Olena G. Dorogavtseva said.

Independence Day for every Ukrainian is the embodiment of freedom, dignity and unity. Therefore, we come together and glorify our country together!
