Participation in the XXXI Olympic Games

Students and graduates of LNU will participate in the Games of XXXI Olympiad to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

Games will be held from August 5 to 21 in Rio de Janeiro. During 17 days, 10,500 athletes from 206 countries of the world will compete for 306 sets of medals in 42 Olympic disciplines. It will be the first Games to be held in South America for the entire 120-year history of the Olympic Games.

The Ukrainian team consists of 205 athletes; Luhansk region will be represented by twelve athletes. Eight of them are graduates and students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Anastasia Nedobiga

Anastasia Nedobiga – International Master of Sports of Ukraine in diving.

At age of seven, she began practicing diving. Anastasia’s first coach was Olga O. Serebryak.

In 2010, the athlete graduated from Lugansk Regional Higher School of Physical Culture.

Currently Anastasia Nedobiga is a magistracy student at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Currently the honored coach of Ukraine in diving Tamara V. Tokmacheva coaches the athlete.

The best athlete’s results: 4th place at the World Championship, also II and III places in the world series.

Elyzaveta Bryzgina

Elyzaveta Bryzgina – Ukrainian athlete, International Master of Sports of Ukraine, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in London (2012) in the 4×100 meters relay, Champion and silver medalist at the European Championship in Athletics.

The athlete was born in the city of Luhansk.

At the age of 13, Elyzaveta moved to the city of Kyiv to the coach Volodymyr Fedorets. In Kyiv, she graduated from the Republican Higher School of Physical Culture.

She studied at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University on the specialty “Olympic Professional Sports”.

In 2007, she became a two-time silver medalist of the European Junior Championships in Hengelo (in the women’s 200 meters and 4×100 meters relay).

In 2010, she won the 200 meters at the European Team Championship in Bergen.

In 2010, at the European Championship (Barcelona) she was the winner of the relay 4 × 100 m (together with Olesya Povh, Nataliya Pogrebnyak and Maria Remin). In addition, she won a silver medal in the women’s 200 meters.

At the Olympic Games 2012 in London, she won bronze in the relay 4 × 100 m with a record of Ukraine – 42.04 sec.

Maksym Semyankiv

Maksym Semyankiv is a Ukrainian gymnast, International Master of Sports of Ukraine, a multiple champion of Ukraine and Europe.

The athlete was born on January 20, 1992 in the city of Dniprodzerzhynsk.

He began gymnastics at the age of 5.

In 2007, he entered the Luhansk Regional Higher School of Physical Culture. In 2013, he graduated from the magistracy of Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

In 2010, he became a member of the national team of Ukraine.

Now the athlete coached by the Honoured Coach of Ukraine Oleksandr M. Gorin.

Natalia Strogova

The Luhansk athlete Natalia Strogova – International Master of Sports of Ukraine – was born on December 26, 1992.

In 2010, she graduated from the Luhansk Regional Higher School of Physical Culture. In 2015, she graduated from the magistracy of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The first coach was Oleksandr Chumakov.

Now the senior coach, lecturer in the Department of Athletics of Lugansk Regional High School of Sports Skills Oleksandr Tomin coaches Natalia.

Today Natalia Strogova is a multiple champion and winner of Ukraine.

In June 2015, at the European Team Championship in Cheboksary (Russia) in the National Team of Ukraine Natalia became the champion in the 4x100m relay, setting a competition record.

In February 2016, she became the winner in 60 meters in the International Athletics Competitions 4th MartinKutmanMemorial (Estonia), overcoming the distance in 7,44 sec.

In June 2016, the athlete became the winner of the Diamond League Stage in the 4x100m relay (Rome, Italy).

Serhii Smelik

Sergey Smelik is a Ukrainian athlete, sprinter, International Master of Sports of Ukraine, the European Championship medalist.

Born on April 19, 1987 in the city of Krasnodon, Luhansk region.

He studied at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The Coach of Serhii is Serhii O. Butkov.

In 2012, Serhii has already participated in the Olympics in London.

In 2013, at the Summer Universiade, which was held from July 6 to July 17 in Kazan, Serhii represented Ukraine in two disciplines and won the gold medal (4×100 meters relay).

At the European Championship, which took place in 2014 in Zurich, Smelik won bronze in 200 meters.

He has the Order “For Merits» of the III degree, which he received on July 25, 2013 for the achievement of high sports results at the XXVII World Summer Universiade in Kazan, the dedication and the desire to win, the rise of the international authority of Ukraine.

In 2015, at the European Team Championship, which was held in Cheboksary (Russia), was the first in 200 meters.

This year, having arrived to the competitions in Erzurum (Turkey), Serhii Smelik overcame a distance of 100 meters in 10.10 seconds. Sergei did not have just three hundredths of a second to break the national record of Valery Borzov installed at the Olympics in 1972 in Munich.

Oleksandr Gorshkovozov

Oleksandr Gorshkovozov – International Master of Sports of Ukraine.

The athlete was born on July 18, 1991 in the city of Luhansk.

When Alexander was five years old, he first came to the pool. The first coach of Oleksandr Gorshkovozov was Olga O. Serebryak.

At the age of 14, Oleksandr became the champion of Ukraine many times, most often in synchronized diving. In addition, already in 2005, he took the 3rd place in the Junior European Championships in the discipline “jumping from a ten-meter tower.”

In 2006, the athlete came under the direction of the honored coach of Ukraine, head coach of the national team of Ukraine in diving Tamara Tokmacheva.

The athlete considers that his best achievements are performance at the World Cup in 2011, where he took the III place in synchronized diving from the tower and the second place in the team competition (3 m springboard + tower 10 m) at the World Championship in 2015, which was held in Kazan (Russia).

Now Oleksandr Gorshkovozov is one of the most renowned athletes of Ukraine in diving, which has received a license for the Olympic Games in 2016.

Lyubov Basova

Lyubov Basova (Shulika) is a Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine.
She was born on July 16, 1988 in the village of Sharapanivka, Vinnitsa region.

Having moved to Luhansk in 2007, she joined the sports club “ISD”. She graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

On September 29, 2012 Lyubov married Oleksandr Basov.

Since junior and youth competitions, Lyubov Basova received numerous prizes at European and World tournaments. She was a six-time European champion and two-time junior – youth, the champion in the 2006 World Champion in the sprint and two-time was vice-champion in the round of 500 meters among the youth. At the age of 19 Lyubov began performing for the team ISD Track Team at the World Cup.

In 2008 at the World Championship the Ukrainian team consisted of Lyubov Shulika, Lesia Kalitovska and Svitlana Galyuk won silver. At the World Cup Lyubov also repeatedly became the winner and prize-winner both in individual and the team races, and at the end of all stages became the leader of the overall standings in the sprint.

The following year, Lyubov once again took part in the European Championship among youth, where she received two gold medals. Her personal piggy bank at the World Cup gained another two medals – silver and bronze in the sprint. In 2010, the medal standings of the athlete added bronze from the European Championship.

The next European championship brought Lyubov first place in the sprint and second in the team sprint. At the World Cup, the athlete was the 5 th in the sprint, and the World Universiade in Shenzhou brought the cyclist the second place in the round of 500 m. The end of 2011 brought the victory in the sprint and the team sprint at the World Cup in Astana, and the leader’s jersey at the World Cup.

At the Olympic Games in London Lyubov competed in the disciplines: team pursuit, team sprint and keirin. The athlete has not passed beyond the first round in keirin, but in the sprint she went to the quarter-finals and finished in seventh place. In the team competition in the pursuit Ukrainian team did not qualify, but in the sprint Lyubov Shulika and Helena Tsos reached the final, where they conceded the team of Australia in the fight for the bronze medal.

On March 3, 2016 at the World Cup Cycling Lyubov Basova took the fifth place in keirin and got a place in the national team of Ukraine to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Hanna Solovey

Hanna Solovey is a Ukrainian athlete, cyclist, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine.

Hanna was born on January 31, 1992 in Luhansk region.

In 2007, she graduated from Lugansk Higher School of Physical Culture.

In 2016, she graduated from the magistracy of Institute of Physical Education and Sports of LTSNU.

In September 2014, she won the silver medal at the World Championship in Road Cycling, the individual race with separate start, (the city of Ponferrada, Spain).

In June 2015, at the First European Games in Baku she finished second in the individual race with separate start (highway) with time 33:03.37.

At the European Championship Hanna became the fourth on the track in 2015 in the town of Grantham (Switzerland), in the points race.

Hanna got the Olympic license because she took the 3rd place in the International Race RaceHorizonPark-2016 to Road Cycling, which took place in Kyiv.
