Public Discussion of Educational Programs of the Specialty B1

On March 20, 2026, a public discussion of educational programs of the specialty B1 “Audiovisual Art and Media Production” was held at the Faculty of Arts.
The discussion of the projects was chaired by the senior lecturer of the Department of Design and Media Production, Doctor of Philosophy, Maksym Saibekov.
The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Design and Media Production, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor Olha Kostiuk; Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Design and Media Production Tetiana Shelupakina; Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Work, Lecturer of the Department of Design and Media Production Alona Tereshchenko; Deputy Director for Academic Work, Doctor of Philosophy, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Design and Media Production Rostyslav Pidpalii; lecturers: Kalashnyk Oleksandr Pavlovich, Anatolii Mishin; Acting Head of the Department of Quality Management of Educational Activities, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Kravchenko Margarita Vitaliyevna; Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and New Media at Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Alina Lisnevska ; Editor-in-Chief, Host of the Author’s Program on the Svobodny Poltava Channel – Yaroslav Grigorovich Zhuravel; Editor-in-Chief of “Suspilne Poltava” – Karina Oleksandrivna Moskalenko; Editor of Live Broadcasts of the TV and Radio Company “PTV” – Oleksandr Krumin; Graduates of the Public Service Commission: Vadym Patyk, Vlada Dudnik; 3rd and 4th year students of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the educational program “Television Program Host” and representative of the student government: Margarita Shapovalova, Yelyzaveta Kharakhash; 1st year student of the Master’s degree in the educational program “Director of Audiovisual Works” – Kateryna Romanivna Chepiga.
Representatives of leading media organizations in the region, including editors and specialists from television and radio companies, as well as representatives of the academic community of other higher education institutions, joined the discussion. The participants emphasized the need to adapt educational programs to modern trends in the development of digital media, including the development of content for YouTube platforms, working with analytical data, creating video content in various formats (caption-video, explainers), and functioning in live formats.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening the practical component of applicants’ training. It was proposed to:
- increase the volume of production practice and structure it into several stages;
- expand the practice base;
- ensure the involvement of applicants in the full cycle of creating a media product.
Based on the results of the discussion, a number of changes were proposed to be made to the educational program “Television Program Host”, in particular:
- update the list of educational components in accordance with the current needs of the media industry;
- introduce the discipline “Media Law”;
- transform the course “Fundamentals of Video Blogging and Podcasting” into “Fundamentals of SMM and Video Blogging”;
- clarify the names and scope of individual disciplines;
- provide for the possibility of distance learning.
As part of the master’s educational program “Director of Audiovisual Works”, the emphasis is on training specialists who are able to implement large-scale audiovisual projects, work in the field of videography, cinematography and editing, as well as develop their own media projects.
Following the results of the meeting, the updated composition of the project groups of both educational programs was approved with the involvement of employers, students and graduates, which corresponds to the principles of student-centered learning and the recommendations of ESG-2015.
All proposals and recommendations will be taken into account when forming the final versions of the educational programs, which will be submitted for approval to the academic council of the faculty.
