Public Discussion of Educational Programs at the Department of Foreign Languages

At the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, a discussion was held on the educational programs of the second (master’s) level of higher education.

During the meeting, the following programs were presented: the educational program of specialty A4.021 Secondary Education. English Language and World Literature, as well as programs of specialty B11 Philology. B11.041 Germanic Languages and Literatures (including Translation), first language – English, and B11.043 Germanic Languages and Literatures (including Translation), first language – German.

Program guarantors Nataliia Yuhan, Nataliia Sura, and Andrii Hurduz acquainted the participants with the content of their programs, presented the list of educational components and the distribution of academic credits, and outlined the competencies and program learning outcomes, emphasizing their alignment with the respective components.

The participants of the meeting had the opportunity to discuss the strengths of the programs, as well as to identify problems, for instance, the imbalance between theoretical and practice-oriented courses in the program of specialty B11 Philology, and the insufficient allocation of credits for some key courses (particularly Communicative Strategies of the English Language).

It was further emphasized that, while the programs comply with the standards of higher education, they nevertheless require review and improvement in order to meet contemporary academic and professional demands.Overall, the discussion demonstrated a high level of interest within the academic community in improving educational programs and adapting them to contemporary challenges. It served as a platform for constructive exchange of ideas among students, faculty, and stakeholders, and outlined promising directions for the further enhancement of existing programs.
