Webinar for Scientific and Pedagogical Workers and Educators

On March 11, the first practical webinar in a series of webinars for scientific and pedagogical workers and educators was held within the All-Ukrainian scientific and educational project “Learn to Teach” organized by the Scientific Center “MANU”.

The first meeting according to the plan was dedicated to the transformation of identity and new methods of teaching history. The event became an important platform for discussions and acquisition of practical skills for applicants of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences majoring in “Secondary Education (History and Civic Education)” and “Secondary Education (History, Law)”, since such webinars help to look at familiar historical events through the prism of modern challenges, modernization processes and educational space. At the first webinar “Identities in Modern Ukraine: Reconfiguration” the lecturer of the event, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor Olha Kazakevich, analyzed how exactly our civic and national self-consciousness is changing. The event became a step towards understanding the reasons for the deep social transformations that we experience every day.

Next time, students will attend the webinar “The Long 19th Century in Ukraine: Methodological Approaches to Teaching”, where they will receive specific tools for working with the topics of nation-building and modernization.

The experience of direct involvement in events and webinars of teaching staff, the opportunity to interact with a wide range of scientists is strategically important for professional training at the university. Master’s students of the Secondary Education (History and Civic Education) specialty Tetiana Kolpakova and Halyna Dobrovolska, who joined the discussion, assessed the practicality of the received methodological cases, and will use new knowledge during the preparation of master’s research. They noted that such meetings help a novice teacher to structure the material and adapt scientific concepts to the realities of the school lesson. Joint work with specialists of the NC “MANU” creates an environment where academic knowledge is transformed into a practical skill necessary for the upbringing of a critically thinking generation.

Completing the first stage of work, the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of LTSNU expresses sincere gratitude to the organizers of the Scientific Center “MANU” for the opportunity to involve our students in events of such a high scientific level. Participation in webinars has become a significant contribution to the development of professional competencies of future teachers.
