Public Discussion of Educational Programs “Chinese Language and Literature (including Translation), Second Foreign Language – English” and “Japanese Language and Literature (including Translation), Second Foreign Language – English”

At the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, a public discussion was held regarding the educational programs of the specialty Philology. Oriental Languages and Literatures (including Translation).

The event was attended by the guarantors of the educational programs, Yuliia Malakhova and Daria Perepadia, as well as faculty members, students, alumni, and stakeholders represented by Valentyna Ishchenko (PUET), Olha Pokatilova (Deluxe Voyage LLC), and Stanislav Shamshura (OSGA). During the discussion, the structure of the programs was examined, their compliance with current labor market requirements was assessed, and the prospects for the development of philological education in the context of Ukraine’s integration into the global educational space were considered.

The guarantors emphasized the distinctive features of the programs, particularly their uniqueness among similar curricula offered at other Ukrainian universities, and outlined opportunities for individualized learning trajectories through elective courses. In addition, Professor Nataliia Yuhan presented educational components she had developed, dedicated to contemporary Japanese literature.

Special attention was given to the improvement of curricula, the enhancement of translation training quality, and the expansion of opportunities for student academic mobility.

As a result of the discussion, participants proposed a number of measures aimed at optimizing the programs to ensure a high level of professional competence among future specialists in Oriental languages and literatures. All interested parties were invited to complete a survey, the results of which will inform decisions regarding possible amendments to the current programs.

The guarantors of the educational programs, Yuliia Malakhova and Daria Perepadia, express their sincere gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and constructive suggestions, which will contribute to the further development of the programs and the improvement of training quality for future philologists specializing in Oriental languages.
