University Joined Honoring the Great Kobzar

Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, which proudly bears the name of the national genius of the Ukrainian people, joined the events dedicated to the 212th anniversary of the birth of the Great Kobzar.

On March 9, 2026, the university administration, teachers, students and staff of LTSNU took part in the celebrations in the T. H. Shevchenko Square in Lubny, where the gathering “The Great Son of the Ukrainian People” was held, dedicated to the 212th anniversary of the birth of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko.

The event was also attended by community leaders, deputies of the Lubny City Council, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the public.

212 years have passed since the birth of the Great Kobzar, but his word remains alive and relevant. Shevchenko is not just a figure studied in textbooks, but a spiritual symbol of the Ukrainian people, a source of strength, faith and hope. His work is a spiritual guide, and his wills still inspire Ukrainians to fight for freedom, dignity and independence today.

During the event, the Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Olena Karaman, addressed the audience, emphasizing:

“For our university, the name of Taras Shevchenko is not only a great honor, but also a high responsibility. His word, his belief in the power of education, in human dignity and freedom are the values on which a new generation of Ukrainians is being raised today. We strive for the ideas of the Kobzar to live in the hearts of our students and inspire them to work for a strong, independent Ukraine.”

After the ceremonies and a minute of silence, those present laid flowers at his monument to honor the memory of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. The university administration set up a basket with yellow and blue flowers — the symbolic colors of our state.

For the university community of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, participation in such events is of particular importance. This is not only a tribute to the memory of the great poet, but also a reminder of the spiritual values that unite Ukrainians, form national consciousness and inspire young people to build the future of an independent Ukraine.
