Completion of the advanced training course program: “Psychological assistance, social support and comprehensive rehabilitation of military personnel and war veterans”
March 2026, the program of advanced training courses, which lasted from February 2, was successfully completed. The program was attended by students from different regions of Ukraine (psychologists, specialists in supporting war veterans and demobilized persons, representatives of the healthcare and business sectors).
The author of the program was Olesia Tovstukha, Associate Professor of the Psychology Department, executor of the research project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “Transformation of military experience into social leadership: an internationalized model of empowerment of veterans as agents of social change”. The conceptual principles of the project were integrated into the program, which allowed the students to familiarize themselves with a wide range of relevant topics: “The concept of a crisis situation, crisis state and crisis response”; “Traumatic stress and psychotrauma in military personnel and war veterans”; “Features of psychological assistance to various categories of military personnel and war veterans”; “Psychological support for family members of military personnel and war veterans”; “Diagnostics of needs and design of socio-psychological support measures for war veterans”; “Comprehensive psychological rehabilitation and development of individual rehabilitation plans for war veterans”; “Socio-psychological aspects of veterans’ return to civilian life”; “Innovative approaches in socio-psychological support for war veterans (experience of NATO countries)”.
The students’ final work consisted of two parts: a report on the topic “War veterans as a vulnerable category of clients” and a presentation of the project “Veterans as agents of social change”.
All reports were meaningful and inspiring, each student shared her unique experience of reintegration of veterans in her region, which created a valuable exchange of knowledge and practical ideas.
We wish success to all participants and hope that the acquired knowledge and skills will be actively used in their professional activities for the benefit of veterans and the development of social leadership in Ukraine.
