Guest Lecture at the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences

A guest lecture “On Environmental Protection: The State Ecological Inspectorate in Luhansk Region” was held at the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences.

On March 4, 2026, the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences hosted an extremely relevant guest lecture “On Environmental Protection: The State Environmental Inspectorate in Luhansk Region”. The event brought together students, teachers and all those who are interested in the environmental issues of our country. The meeting was addressed by Maksym YAKUNIN, Deputy Head of the State Environmental Inspectorate; Ivan KOVALENKO, Head of the Sector of State Environmental Supervision (Control) in the Fields of Waste Prevention and Management, Handling of Hazardous Chemicals; Yulia TEMIEREVA, Chief Specialist of the Sector of Instrumental and Laboratory Control; Roman POLTAVSKY, Head of the Sector of State Environmental Supervision (Control) of Land Resources.

During the lecture, the speakers detailed the main areas of activity of the inspection, in particular, the implementation of state environmental control, instrumental and laboratory research, as well as the recording of violations of environmental legislation. Particular attention was paid to the issues of documenting and calculating damage caused to the environment, including as a result of military actions, littering and land pollution.

The speakers gave examples from the practice of the inspection, demonstrated algorithms for interaction with local governments and law enforcement agencies, and outlined modern approaches to environmental monitoring and laboratory control of the state of atmospheric air, water resources and soils.

The lecture also became a valuable source of practical information for students of the educational program “Ecology”, because the State Environmental Inspectorate in Luhansk region is an important partner and stakeholder of our program. Such meetings help future ecologists understand the real challenges of the profession, modern methods of work and contribute to the recording and overcoming the consequences of environmental crimes.

At the end of the event, a lively discussion took place, during which the participants discussed the current problems of state environmental control and the features of recording environmental offenses.

We sincerely thank the speakers for their informative speeches, professional experience and willingness to share their knowledge with the younger generation of specialists! We hope for further fruitful cooperation and the implementation of new joint educational and scientific projects.
