A Visit to the Queen of Fields

Recently, the university administration visited the experimental-demonstrative fields of food corn.

Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Department of Production Technology and Professional Education Serhii V. Masliyov invited the university administration to the presentation of experimental-demonstrative fields of food corn in Starobilsk. Serhii Volodymyrovych spent over two decades of years to study this cereal.  He says that the food, the consumer, the market value of this culture has not been canceled.

“Now the university science is ready to guide farmers concerning what varieties and cultivation techniques may be effective. The university has plans to open a graduate specialty in crop production and plant breeding. We dream of creating a powerful research, educational center at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in the territory of Starobilsk”, – Serhii told.

The participants of the presentation examined the experimental-demonstrative plots of food corn. They familiarized with types and subtypes, directions of use, saw five hybrids, one variety of sweet corn and three hybrids of popcorn (bursting varieties). In addition, they took the opportunity to try a young ear of sweet cereal.
