The first round of the All-Ukrainian Student Research Paper Competition in fields of knowledge and specialties in 2025–2026 academic year in history was held.
On February 26, 2026, the Department of History and Archaeology hosted the 1st round of the All-Ukrainian Student Research Paper Competition in Fields of Knowledge and Specialties in the 2025–2026 Academic Year in History. The event has traditionally become an important platform for public presentations of scientific achievements, development of research skills of young people, and support for the academic initiative of students.
Within the framework of the competition, students presented scientific research devoted to topical and debatable problems of the history of Ukraine and world history. The submitted works were distinguished by their thematic diversity, interdisciplinary approach, elaboration of a wide range of sources, and the desire of young researchers to understand complex historical processes in national and global contexts.
Student research papers were submitted for consideration by the commission, which underwent professional review and evaluation in accordance with the criteria of the All-Ukrainian competition. During the evaluation, the relevance of the topic, the level of scientific novelty, the quality of the source base, the logic of the research, the validity of the conclusions and the independence of the work were taken into account.
According to the results of the final meeting of the competition commission, the winners of the first round were determined:
First place – Valeria Valeriivna Ilnytska;
Second place – Viktoria Oleksandrivna Makarenko;
Third place – Oleksandr Vasylovych Miroshnychenko.
The members of the competition commission noted the high level of interest of the applicants in scientific activities, the ability to work with historical sources, formulate research problems and present the results of their own scientific research in a reasoned manner. The competition contributes to the formation of academic culture, the development of critical thinking and the preparation of future historians for professional scientific activity.
The holding of the 1st round of the competition was another evidence of the active scientific life of the department and the interest of students in research activities. We sincerely thank the students for their responsible attitude to the preparation of their papers, their courage in posing research questions and their readiness for intellectual discussion. Special thanks to the scientific supervisors for supporting student initiatives, attentive support of research and creating an environment in which new ideas and scientific interests are born.
