All-Ukrainian Online Event

Students from the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences joined the all-Ukrainian online event, which became a platform for deep reflection on the events of modern Ukrainian history.

For future historians, commemorating the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion is, first and foremost, an act of professional responsibility and awareness of the continuity of the struggle that has been going on for twelve years. In this regard, bachelor’s and master’s degree students majoring in “Secondary Education (History)” and “Secondary Education (History and Civic Education)” of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences joined the all-Ukrainian online event, which became a platform for deep reflection on the events of modern Ukrainian history. This meeting, organized by the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in close cooperation with the National Military History Museum of Ukraine, went beyond the traditional information event, turning into a space for analyzing the cause-and-effect relationships between February 2014 and February 2022.

The lecturers focused on deconstructing Russian myths about the “suddenness” of the war, proving that armed aggression and occupation of territories began on February 19, 2014. The Deputy Director of the National Military History Museum Yaroslav Tynchenko presented the evidence base of the initial stage of aggression, using archival photographs that recorded the establishment of Russian checkpoints near Chongar and the blockade of the Ukrainian Marine Corps barracks in Feodosia. For applicants, this format of working with primary sources became a practical case of how archival memory and visual documentation are transformed into tools for protecting national interests in the scientific and educational fields.

The institutional dimension of resistance was presented by Artem Karakoi, Chief Consultant of the Secretariat of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights. He revealed in detail the mechanisms of the Verkhovna Rada’s work under martial law, focusing on diplomatic and legislative activities. The applicants received specific data on the international activity of the parliament, and also listened to an inspiring motivational speech from Mr. Artem.

The practical value of the event for future teachers lies in the formation of the ability to explain complex historical processes through the prism of verified facts and testimonies of direct participants in state-building processes. Communication with representatives of the Parliament and leading historians allowed future teachers to go beyond textbook formulations, filling knowledge about the war with a living context and professional analytics. This contributes not only to strengthening the academic base, but also to the upbringing of civic resilience, which is critically important for those who will soon form the historical consciousness of new generations of Ukrainians.
