The training was aimed at improving the quality of social, medical, administrative and other public services for veterans, military personnel, families of the deceased and missing by implementing human-centered and trauma-oriented approaches in the work of service providers.

Specialists who interact with veterans and their families on a daily basis were invited to the training, namely specialists in supporting war veterans and demobilized persons.

The training participants:

  • got acquainted with the principles of trauma-oriented and human-centered communication;
  • learned to recognize and take into account the psychosocial needs of veterans and their family members;
  • received practical tools for nonviolent communication, prevention of professional burnout and re-traumatization;
  • learned how to support clients in crisis without causing harm.

Format and duration: the training was conducted in a face-to-face format, 1 day (8 hours).

Why it is important.

  • Daily communication with people who have experienced loss or uncertainty requires special communication skills.
  • The training helped to improve the skills of speaking with dignity, maintaining respect for the experience of each person – and at the same time, taking care of one’s own professional resilience.
