Meeting with Practicing Journalist Ihor Sereda

On February 13, as part of the project “Institutionalization of interaction between higher education institutions and territorial communities as a factor in restoring and preserving human capital in conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction of the country,” another meeting was held with practicing journalist Ihor Sereda.

The second key topic for discussion within the educational course “Information Security: Without Limitations and Embellishments” was methods of manipulation in the information environment and effective ways to counter them. For the participants of the event, this was an exceptional opportunity to learn from the well-known journalist-practitioner Ihor Sereda, who acted as the speaker of the meeting. Together with the specialist, they learned to deconstruct manipulative strategies and mastered effective tools for protecting their own information space. Such practice is critically important for the development of media literacy of the modern generation and contributes to the formation of the resilience of university communities and communities to information attacks.

This course is generally aimed at increasing the level of information literacy, developing critical thinking and forming a culture of responsible work with information among active youth, as well as all interested participants in educational and public communities. Participation in such educational initiatives allows not only to learn to recognize disinformation, but also to realize one’s own role in the formation of information resilience of society. Today, these skills are an integral part of civic maturity, state security, and the strategic restoration of Ukraine’s human potential in the context of martial law and the future reconstruction of the country.
