Center for Psychosocial Adaptation

Since March 2016, the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation works in the city of Starobilsk.

The Center for Psychosocial Adaptation is a cozy place where people with similar issues and experiences gather. This is a security area where the hope for the future is born.

The goal of psychosocial assistance is support for the victim to re-acquire the following attributes: normal – hope – advantage – self-esteem – mental and social peace, stability and integrity of life.

Except for the close communication, support and assistance, in the center one has the opportunity to visit various master-classes, to receive psychological counseling and targeted humanitarian assistance. Children’s groups and children’s room set up for children.

The Center for Psychosocial Adaptation functions with the support of the German Foreign Ministry, the Maltese Aid Service and psychological crisis services. Methodical support is carried by the organization “UKRAINIAN ASSOCIATION OF SPECIALISTS ON OVERCOMING THE CONSEQUENCES OF TRAUMATIC EVENTS.”

In its work, the team adheres to the basic principles of the Inter-Ministerial Standing Committee on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Code of Ethics of the Association. The multi-level support for people in crisis conditions is implemented.

Workers of the Center actively apply advanced forms and methods of psycho-social care and support, including training in Psychological Cinema Club, training in hand-made, yoga, phototherapy.

From the life of the Center:

The Master-Class “Bag of Memories”:

Phototherapy is treatment of a weary soul with the help of artistic photography. This idea was the main goal of the master-class for the production of “the road” album in the form of small boxes of memories.

Participants were assigned to pre-pick photos to their preference. During the master-class they made a box and shared pleasant memories, experiences and emotions.

Meetings with a psychologist to explore emotions.

Participants drew portraits of emotions. Each chose a fairy-emotion, invented colors and his own tale to her.

Activities of the supporting group “Drawing on a Platter.”

The participants took paper plates at the basis. They painted with pleasure, delight, interest. Prior to the event, the assistants were chosen and all together went to fairyland women – witches!
