Kruty Heroes Memorial Day
30.1.2026
On Kruty Heroes Memorial Day, at the initiative of the Special Education Department, a meeting was held with Stalina Chubenko, the mother of the 16-year-old Hero of Ukraine Stepan Chubenko.
During the meeting, historical facts about the students who stood up for Ukraine in 1918 near Kruty were recalled. Stepan’s mother told and showed a video about her son Stepan Chubenko, a boy from our time, whose feat became a worthy continuation of the struggle for our freedom and independence of Ukraine!
Mrs. Stalina’s story was sincere and difficult. It contained maternal pain, pride for her son and great love for Ukraine!
This meeting became a moment of silence, reflection and unity, when the past and the present came together in one name – Ukraine!
The heroism of the young men who stood up for battle near Kruty and the heroism of Stepan Chubenko are separated by more than a hundred years, but they are united by one thing – a conscious choice and sacrificial love for the state!
We remember the Heroes of Kruty. We remember Stepan Chubenko! There is no distance between Kruty and our present — there is only the continuity of the struggle for the right to be yourself on your own land!
Eternal memory to the heroes! Heroes do not die!
