Celebration of the Ukrainian Unity Day in Lubny

On January 22, in the city of Lubny, the leadership of our university, together with employees, teachers, students, representatives of local authorities and the public, took part in a solemn festive demonstration on the occasion of the Ukrainian Unity Day near the monument to the Millennium of the founding of the city.

This year’s celebration of the Day of Unity was held under the slogan “United – Invincible!”, which today more than ever accurately reflects the state and strength of Ukrainian society.

During the event, those present recalled the events of more than a century ago – January 22, 1919, when two Ukrainian republics – the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic – united into one state, testifying to the aspiration of the Ukrainian people for unity, freedom and independence.

Nowadays, this holiday has a special, deep meaning for every citizen of Ukraine. In times of full-scale war, when Ukrainians defend their land with weapons in their hands, unity ceases to be just a historical concept and becomes a living value that is fought for and defended every day.

With a minute of silence, the participants of the demonstration honored the memory of the Heroes who gave their lives for the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. This silence was filled with deep gratitude, sorrow and awareness of the price paid by the Ukrainian people for the right to be free.

With dignity and elation, the Shevchenko students carried the university flag and the State Flag of Ukraine to the memorial sign, and also laid a basket of flowers in national colors.

The yellow-blue canvas in the hands of the young generation personifies the unity of spirit, thoughts and aspirations, the continuity of traditions and responsibility for the future of the state. It is a symbol of faith, hope and strength with which Ukraine moves forward.

The participation of the university community in such events is an important component of the national-patriotic education of youth, the formation of civic consciousness and the preservation of historical memory. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University continues to be a center of unity, stability and active civic position.

We are different in age and professions, but united in our love for Ukraine.

United we are strong. United we are invincible.
