Defense of Master’s Theses in the Specialty “Secondary Education (Geography)”

Geography of the future: the defense of master’s theses in the specialty “Secondary Education (Geography)” took place.

Today, our ranks have been replenished with professionals who know exactly how to teach geography so that the child’s eyes “burn”. Graduates of the specialty 014.07 Secondary Education (Geography) have successfully completed their studies and are ready to work in the conditions of the New Ukrainian School (NUS).

During the final certification, which took place on January 14, 2026, the students of the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences proved: a modern geography teacher is at the same time an analyst, researcher and IT specialist. This year, the research topic was as close as possible to the needs of a modern school. The key focuses of the master’s theses were:

  • Digitalization of education: introduction of artificial intelligence and mobile technologies into geography teaching.
  • Innovative formats: practical implementation of the “flipped classroom” model and other types of non-standard lessons.
  • Socialization of students: development of communication skills in geography lessons in high school.
  • Modern control: the method of formative assessment as a tool for supporting students.

The head of the examination commission, candidate of geographical sciences, teacher of the highest category, teacher-methodologist of Kreminna Lyceum No. 5 of the Kreminna City Council of the Luhansk region, Pavlo Virchenko, noted that despite numerous challenges, young specialists presented a high level of theoretical and practical training, and also demonstrated fluency in modern teaching methods. The result speaks for itself – all six graduates received excellent grades!

The guarantor of the master’s educational program “Geography”, candidate of geographical sciences, associate professor Iryna Melnyk emphasized that the newly-minted masters showed high scientific activity throughout their studies. This is confirmed by numerous publications, conference certificates and active participation in the work of the scientific circle “Innovative Technologies of Teaching Geography”.

Congratulations to our graduates! May your professional journey be interesting, and each “geographical object” on your way bring only success!
