Open Lecture by Ihor Zhurba

An open lecture by Doctor of Philosophy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Ihor Zhurba on the topic “Separatism in the Political Geography of Modern Conflicts” was held.

On December 23, 2025, the lecture was held within the educational component “Geopolitics and Political Geography” for the 3rd year bachelor’s students studying the educational program “Political Science”, speciality C2 “Political Science”.

The topic of the lecture is extremely relevant in the context of modern international conflicts and the transformation of the global security environment. During the lesson, separatism was considered not only as a political phenomenon, but as a complex spatial-geopolitical phenomenon, closely related to the processes of globalization, regional instability and the struggle for control over territories.

The discussion part of the lecture, which took place in the format of an active exchange of views, aroused particular interest among the students. The participants of the discussion raised a number of topical issues, in particular, the problems of reintegration policy, the role of the state in overcoming the consequences of territorial conflicts, as well as the impact of globalization processes on the transformation of modern forms of separatism. The lively discussion testified to the high level of interest of the students and the practical significance of the issues raised.
