Christmas Spirit at the Foreign Languages Department
23.12.2025
Christmas was joyfully celebrated at the Foreign Languages Department of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences.
On December 22, the Department hosted the event “Christmas in Europe: Traditions and Modernity”, which brought together lecturers and students from different years in a festive atmosphere of intercultural dialogue.
The moderator of the event, lecturer Iryna Skliarova, emphasized in her opening remarks that Christmas is not only a religious holiday but also an important cultural code that unites history, family values, and contemporary traditions of European nations.
With the presentation “The Magic of British Christmas: From the Victorian Living Room to Modern Traditions”, third-year student of «English Language and World Literature» program Victoria Nosal shared her insights. First-year student of «German Language and World Literature» Spartak Alikhanidi spoke about the peculiarities of celebrating Christmas in German-speaking countries. Master’s student Vladyslav Nekrut presented Austrian Christmas traditions and the phenomenon of Krampusnacht.
An important part of the meeting was the interactive session, during which participants shared associations and reflections on Christmas traditions across Europe. This encouraged lively discussion and active audience engagement.
The event concluded with a musical gift — a recorded Christmas performance by third-year student of «French and English Language and World Literature» Yaromyr Fundukian, which created a truly festive mood.
The online gathering took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere and became a vivid example of combining academic content with cultural and artistic approaches. It left participants with pleasant impressions and a sense of belonging to a shared European Christmas space.
The Foreign Languages Department sincerely extends its greetings to our university community on the upcoming holidays, wishing good health, inspiration in work and study, family warmth, and new achievements. May the most cherished wish come true in the New Year — peace in Ukraine — and may our hearts be filled with faith, unity, and light.
