Social and Humanitarian Work at the FNS

The Faculty of Natural Sciences summed up the social and humanitarian work.
During the current year the social and humanitarian work at the Faculty of Natural Sciences was carried out in accordance with the Charter of the University, the Concept of Strategic Development of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the Strategy of the national-patriotic education of children and youth in 2016 – 2020 years, the main provisions of which are reflected in the plan of the humanitarian and social work of the Faculty in 2015 – 2016 academic year.
The main task of the social and humanitarian work at the Faculty was to ensure the cultural and spiritual development of a person, education of students in the spirit of Ukrainian patriotism and respect for the Constitution of Ukraine.
Start of the academic year at the Faculty was devoted to organizational matters. In the beginning of September, a meeting of representatives of the dean’s office and faculty departments with students was held in order to give instructions on safety and labor protection. In addition, curators and tutors were appointed, headmen of groups and student activists of the faculty were elected. The first year students were explained the features of distance learning, as well as conducted a tour of the university.
During the first session of the stationary studies, which began in mid-September, there was held a fascinating excursion to the museum of Kreminna, Dedication to freshmen and the round table “State Symbols of Ukraine”, during which students and teachers learned a lot of new and interesting things about the official marks and state symbols of Ukraine.
In October, students of the Faculty took an active part in the celebration of the “Day of the Defender of Ukraine.” In honor of the holiday, on the initiative of the student government they held a patriotic action “The strength of unconquered”. Within this action students of first and third courses of specialty “Laboratory Diagnostics”, “Biology”, “Chemistry”, “Design”, “Marketing”, “Pre-school Education” and “Primary Education” visited Ukrainian military who were serving at checkpoints in the area of Starobilsk. During the meeting, students congratulated Ukrainian soldiers, gave them patriotic symbols, traditional Ukrainian round loaf, sweets, their sincere smiles, kisses and hope for the future.
In November, the Department of Geography held a photo contest “77 Wonders of Luhansk Region,” in which pupils of Lugansk region took an active part. The purpose of the competition was to identify and develop the creative abilities of pupils, the motivation to search, research and regional studies, national-patriotic education, presentation of interesting and unique objects and areas of Luhansk region.
In December, a volunteer detachment of the Faculty visited Kreminna regional specialized comprehensive school for children with consequences of polio and cerebral palsy. Students congratulated children, told them about St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and gave sweets.
In February, a round table “The revolution Dignity” was organized for the students of the Faculty. During the event there was held a screening of the documentary film “Winter in the Fire”, dedicated to the events on Independence Square in winter 2013 – 2014 period, which was nominated for “Oscar” in 2016 in the category “Best Documentary Feature Film.”
In March, students and graduates of the Faculty participated in the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the University and the 93th anniversary of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
In April, the Faculty held a series of master-classes (weaving symbolic bracelets, Easter workshop, etc.), and during the May stationary session in Kreminna held the traditional event “Day of Health”, organized a competition for sports tourism, a visit to St Sergius monastery in Kreminna and a conversation “Ukraine is United Country.”
A special role in the social and humanitarian work of the Faculty had comprehensive training practices. During the academic year within the field practice students of specialties “Geography” and “Biology” visited Trostjanetsky arboretum, Kamenetz-Podolsk, Chernivtsi, Drohobych, Rakhov, Lviv, Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
During the second semester, students of specialties “Biology” and “Chemistry” studied in Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University under the academic mobility program.
It should be noted that students of the Faculty were also actively involved in such university activities, as: “Day of Knowledge”, a competition of student talents, University Aerobics Championship, Vyshyvanka Day, Day of Europe, Unification Day, the anniversary of Taras Shevchenko, University Day, Victory Day, the Day of the Constitution and other.
So, the last academic year at the Faculty was full of interesting events. We hope that the next one will be no less interesting and rich in new meetings!
