9.12.2025
A meeting of the students of the FNAS with veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war took place.
On the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and St. Nicholas, students and representatives of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Natural and Agrarian Sciences took part in the information and educational event “War for Independence: Heroes, Experience, Truth”, which was held at the Veterans Support and Development Center “Veteran-hub Myrhorod”.
The meeting was opened by Liudmyla PASHCHENKO, a specialist of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Liudmyla Ivanivna made a meaningful excursion into the history of the liberation movement of Ukraine, the formation of Ukrainian statehood, characterized the signs of hybrid war and its negative consequences. In an interactive conversation with students, they found out the lessons of previous wars, talked about how historical experience shapes the modern struggle, and why it is important to preserve the unshakable unity of the people, memory and truth about the heroes who defend Ukraine today.
The participants of the meeting had the opportunity to hear sincere and impressive stories of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war about their combat experience, the price of freedom and the strength of the Ukrainian spirit.
Deputy Head of the Myrhorod branch of the NGO “Defense of the State” Roman HUTNIK told about how his personal combat journey began, about the challenges he had to overcome, and about the faith in our Victory, which gives strength to move forward. Roman Oleksiyovych also introduced the purpose of the creation and tasks of the public organization “Defense of the State” as a platform where all those who care can join the efforts to help veterans, military personnel, their families, as well as unite in the fight for the future of the country, support the army and community development.
A veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, head of the veterans’ affairs department of the “Veteran Hub Myrhorod” Bohdan YAKIMENKO shared in his speech how he made the choice to defend Ukraine, spoke about the truth of war without embellishment – about the fear that taught courage, about the pain that turned into determination, and about the love for the Motherland, for which it is worth fighting to the end. Bohdan Igorovich spoke with sincere warmth about the brothers who became a family, about the power of support and about the indomitability that lives in every Ukrainian today.
The student dean of the faculty, Viktoriia BORYSENKO, expressed deep gratitude to our defenders. She gave the military angels-amulets, created by the hands of students – with love and warmth of hearts. Along with these small symbols of support, the defenders also received heartfelt letters full of boundless gratitude, bright wishes to return alive and faith in our common, dreamed-of Victory.
The information and educational meeting ended with questions and answers and a joint photo.
The event resulted in the realization that the struggle for independence continues not only on the front — it continues in the information space, in the hearts and actions of everyone.
