«77 Wonders of Luhansk»

The Faculty of Natural Sciences held a photo contest “77 Wonders of Luhansk”.

In 2015 – 2016 academic year the Department of Geography organized and hosted a photo contest “77 Wonders of Luhansk”. The name of the contest is not accidental, because, there are many beautiful places and unique natural, historical and cultural objects in the Luhansk region, which need to be known by other people.

The purpose of the competition was to identify and develop creative abilities of students, motivation to search, research and regional studies, national-patriotic education, presentation of interesting and unique objects and areas in Luhansk region.

The pupils of 8-11 forms of comprehensive establishments in Luhansk region (schools, lyceums, gymnasiums), pupils of social institutions (orphanages, children’s homes, social rehabilitation centers, etc.) were invited to participate in the competition.

Total about 100 works were submitted for the competition. According to the decision of the organizing committee the photo of Svitlana Zhovtobryuh “The River Seversky Donets” won in the nomination “The Most Picturesque Photos”, the photo of Budkova Julia “Teren” won in the nomination “For the Ability to See the Extraordinary in the Ordinary”.

Contest winners are:

1st place – Kateryna Elfimova, photo «Red Heart of the Steppe”.

2nd place – Illya Zinnikov, photo “Dawn of Ukraine” and “Mystical Beauty of Lugansk Region.”

3rd place – Illya Zinnikov, photo “Light of Lugansk Region.”

3rd place – Oleksii Vasilenko, photo “Magic Pristine”.

3rd place – Mykola Chupahin, photo “Holy Trinity Church and the History of Its Fence.”

The Department of Geography and theFaculty of Natural Sciences congratulate winners and all the participants and wish them further success.
