A series of events dedicated to the Holodomor Memorial Day were held at the Brianka Professional College of LTSNU.
On November 21, on the eve of the Holodomor Memorial Day, a series of insightful events dedicated to the 92nd anniversary of one of the most tragic pages of Ukrainian history were held at the Brianka Professional College of LTSNU. With these events, students and college employees honored the millions of innocent lives cut short by artificial famine and reminded of the importance of memory for the future of the nation.
Under the deeply symbolic title “1933: The Silence That Screams,” an hour of mourning was held, where all those present, through documentary evidence and poems, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that terrible time. With a minute of silence, those present honored the memory of each deceased, realizing that behind the statistics of entire villages stand thousands of personal dramas and unlived lives.
The college also held the “5 Grains on the Windowsill” campaign. Students and teachers placed five grains near the windows of classrooms as a symbolic gesture of remembrance. This tradition dates back to the story of those children who, dying of hunger, kept a few grains of rye in their pockets, trying to save themselves, but often did not have time to eat them. This campaign became another silent but powerful reminder of the sacrifice of the Ukrainian people.
To remember means to prevent a tragedy from happening again. These events remind us of the value of human life, freedom and independence of our state.
