Trypillia Heritage Comes to Life in the Classes of the Design Department
12.11.2025
An exciting process of learning about the cultural heritage of Ukraine continues at the Design Department of the Institute of Arts.
During classes in the discipline “History of Arts”, students explore the unique traditions of ancient civilizations, in particular – the Trypillian culture, which is one of the most striking phenomena in the artistic history of our people.
Students pay special attention to Trypillian ceramics – clay products with amazing shapes and ornaments, which not only served as household items, but also had a deep symbolic meaning. During classes, future designers not only get acquainted with historical samples, but also recreate them themselves, experimenting with shapes, colors and decorative motifs.
Such practical classes are held in a creative and inspiring atmosphere: students enthusiastically immerse themselves in the process, explore the techniques of sculpting, painting, and the structure of ornaments. All this helps to better understand the origins of Ukrainian art, its aesthetic philosophy and the connection of generations through culture.
The department’s teachers emphasize that the study of Trypillian ceramics is not only part of the educational process, but also a form of artistic comprehension of the past, which develops students’ sense of style, color, and composition.
Thus, the pages of history come to life in modern classrooms, and future designers learn not only to create, but also to preserve the cultural memory of Ukraine.
