Guest lecture on Modern Approaches to Stuttering Correction

A guest lecture on modern approaches to stuttering correction was held on the occasion of Speech Therapist Day.

On November 4, 2025, as part of the festive events dedicated to Speech Therapist Day, a meaningful meeting of teachers and students with Viktoria Isachenko, senior lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy, Preschool and Special Education of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The event was organized at the initiative of the Special Education Department of the ER IPP with the aim of improving the professional competence of future speech therapists and expanding their knowledge about modern methods of diagnosing and correcting speech disorders.

The topic of the guest lecture — “Stuttering: Features of Diagnosis and Methods of Correctional Work” — aroused great interest among students and teachers.

Ms. Viktoria began her speech with a historical overview of the formation of ideas about stuttering, outlined the main approaches to its study, distinguished between genetic predisposition and triggering factors that influence the development of this disorder. The lecturer emphasized that stuttering is not only a speech defect, but a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that requires a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach.

During the lecture, the participants learned about the stages of diagnosis, effective methods of speech therapy correction, principles of working with children who stutter, and also received practical recommendations for interacting with the families of such children.

At the end of the meeting, the students actively asked Ms. Viktoria questions, shared their own observations and impressions. The event was held in a warm, friendly and professionally inspired atmosphere, becoming a real bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of speech therapy.

Such meetings once again confirm that Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is a space of professional development, partnership and inspiration, where future specialists have the opportunity to learn from the best.
