Blessed Memory to the Professor Anatolii Popovskyi

Blessed memory to the Professor Anatolii Mykhailovych Popovskyi

The Department of Ukrainian Language, the entire philological family of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University expresses sincere condolences to his family and friends, colleagues from the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, in particular to the members of the Department of Language Training, in connection with the passing of the well-known linguist, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Anatolii Mykhailovych Popovskyi, known throughout Ukraine.

Anatolii Mykhailovych gained the love and respect of the general public and linguists thanks to his research into the language of literary works, folklore, linguistic heritage of famous Ukrainian scholars, and the press of the Poltava region of the 2nd half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. In the person of Anatolii Mykhailovych, we have lost a high-class researcher of the history of the Ukrainian literary language, a wise teacher, an experienced educator, a sincere comrade and a wise advisor. Anatolii Mykhailovych belongs to a generation of scientists who, with their work, laid the foundations of Ukrainian historical linguistics, built a methodology and developed a method for studying the language of fiction of famous and little-known writers, who, brick by brick, enriched the Ukrainian artistic discourse with new achievements. For many years in a row, he contributed to the scientific growth of young Ukrainian philologists, took care of their high professional level, helped with advice and consultations.

We mourn, but we love and remember our Teacher, a witty interlocutor, a performer of Ukrainian folk songs, who so skillfully recited poems and humorous skits.

The Kingdom of Heaven, eternal memory to the bright soul of a bright person!
