Report on the Educational and Research Teaching Practice of Second-Year Master’s Students of Specialties 014.021 “Secondary Education (English Language and World Literature)” and 014.022 “Secondary Education (German Language and World Literature)” at the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University

In October 2025, second-year master’s students of specialties 014.021 “Secondary Education (English Language and World Literature)” and 014.022 “Secondary Education (German Language and World Literature)” at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University successfully completed their educational and research teaching practice in general secondary education institutions of Poltava, the Poltava region, and other regions of Ukraine.

The aim of the practice was to develop the professional, methodological, and research competencies of future teachers of English, German, and world literature; to improve their pedagogical skills; and to familiarize them with modern approaches to organizing the educational process in upper secondary school.

During the practice, the master’s students performed the duties of high school teachers, conducted lessons in English, German, and world literature, prepared teaching materials, implemented interactive teaching technologies, and worked with students of different age groups. Particular attention was paid to the development of pupils’ language competence, critical thinking, reading culture, and intercultural communication skills.

On October 31, 2025, a final reporting meeting was held, during which the students shared their impressions, achievements, and challenges encountered during their teaching practice. They discussed methodological aspects of teaching languages and literature, strategies for enhancing student motivation, the adaptation of teaching materials, and ways of fostering a positive educational environment in line with the principles of the New Ukrainian School.

The supervisors and methodologists of the practice were Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor, Professor, Acting Head of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology Nataliia Yuhan, and Senior Lecturer Olha Blednova, who provided students with methodological support, assisted in organizing their teaching activities, and guided their professional reflection.

The research component of the practice involved completing individual assignments related to the preparation of master’s theses, collecting and analyzing empirical materials, and developing methodological recommendations for teaching foreign languages and world literature.

The supervisors noted the high level of professional training, responsibility, pedagogical initiative, creativity, and analytical skills demonstrated by the students. The practice became an important stage in the professional development of future teachers of English, German, and world literature, contributing to the growth of their pedagogical mastery and research independence.
