During the meeting, we will talk about how Ukraine is rethinking its colonial past and forming a new identity, freeing itself from Soviet and Russian imperial narratives. We will discuss how public space is being cleansed of symbols of totalitarianism, how historical science, museum work, school education are being transformed, and what our urban environment is becoming as a result of renaming and cultural changes. Together, we will try to find an answer to the controversial question: is it possible to cleanse Ukrainian space of Russian and Soviet symbols without losing important pages of its own history?
