17.10.2025
Geography at your fingertips: student tourists visited the unique Garden of Stones in Lubny district.
As part of the study of the discipline “Tourism” and acquaintance with the unique locations of their native land, teachers Vasyl Starikov and Olena Putrenko organized a study tour for 3rd year students majoring in “Hotel and Restaurant Business” to the picturesque Garden of Stones (Kononivka village).
During the trip, teacher Vasyl Starikov spoke in detail about the geological history and formation of the landscape of the Poltava region, explaining where the rocks presented in the Garden of Stones come from and what path they took. Special attention was paid to tourism marketing and market segmentation. Particular attention was focused on how this private facility can be integrated into national and international routes. Students had the opportunity to practically explore the principles of creating attraction facilities, assess their potential for the development of local tourism and compare them with well-known world analogues.
The tour was an excellent addition to the lecture materials. Future specialists not only deepened their knowledge of the geography and history of the region, but also received inspiration to develop their own tourist routes in Poltava region. The trip to the Garden of Stones once again confirmed: to see unique places, you don’t have to go far — real tourist gems are right next door!
And the academic semester has only just begun, so there are still many interesting routes in your native land ahead.
