“Poltava Open 4.0”

Discovering the treasures of Poltava region in the world of virtual reality through the project “Poltava Open 4.0”

On October 14, an atmosphere of discovery and inspiration reigned within the walls of the Lubny Museum of Local Lore named after Hnat Stelletskyi. Library staff, together with students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, gathered for the presentation of an innovative digital project that opens a new era in the promotion of the cultural heritage of the Poltava region.

This is a virtual platform within the framework of the initiative “Poltava Open 4.0. Treasures of the Poltava Region”, which allows you to travel through museums and historical sites of the region using virtual reality (VR) glasses.

This step was a real breakthrough in the field of digitalization of culture and demonstrated how modern technologies can combine history, education and inspiration of young people.

The central element of the presentation was a mobile application with VR integration, which allows users to literally “transport themselves” to the heart of the Poltava region. Thanks to VR glasses, you can walk through the streets of Poltava, Lubny, Lokhvytsia, Myrhorod or Reshetylivka, see a bird’s-eye view of the panorama, look into the museum halls or even “discover” the legendary hiding places of Hetman Mazepa.

“This product is not just technology, but a tool for preserving and popularizing our heritage. Museums are becoming mobile, and history is becoming alive,” the project coordinator emphasized during her speech.

After the presentation, students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University shared their impressions in an interview for the TV channel “Telestudio Lubny”, noting that the feeling of a virtual journey through the museums of the Poltava region was so realistic that it seemed that they were really walking through the halls of ancient exhibitions.

For more information about the project, you can visit the website poltavaopen.com or download the mobile application from the App Store or Google Play.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to the Lubny Museum of Local Lore named after Hnat Stelletskyi for the warm welcome and support of the project.

The event once again confirmed that technology is not only about the future, but also about the opportunity to learn more about the past and feel pride in one’s native land.
