Academic Integrity: Principles and Responsibility

On October 13, students of the educational and research institutes of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, located in the city of Myrhorod, actively participated in an online meeting on the topic “Academic Integrity.”

The organizer, moderator and main speaker of the event was the leading librarian of LTSNU, head of the School of Academic Integrity of the university, Oksana SHEVCHYK.

Oksana Volodymyrivna noted that academic integrity is an integral part of the modern education system, which ensures the quality of knowledge and trust in the results of learning. The speaker meaningfully told the audience about the concept of academic integrity, its constituent elements, types and responsibility for violating the principles of academic integrity. During the meeting, no less important issues of falsification and fabrication, academic fraud, academic bribery of copyright, etc. were considered. Many practical tips were provided: how to avoid plagiarism, how to protect copyright, ways to eliminate academic dishonesty and many other useful tips.

At the end of the meeting, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the library website of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, the digital repository, its structure, content and rules of use.

We sincerely thank Ms. Oksana for the opportunity to systematize knowledge on academic integrity, as it is an integral part of quality education and professional growth. Such meetings inspire critical thinking, ethical action, and honest development.
