How to Avoid Labor Exploitation
19.9.2025
On September 18, the Light of Hope Charity Organization, together with another NGO, Person in Need, held a training for students of the Institute of Arts on how to avoid being deceived by potential employers and not find themselves in a state of labor exploitation.
The training included various activities to better understand the topic under discussion: from the classic lecture part to the interactive game format and teamwork. The issues of possible illegal actions by those who employ people were touched upon, what frauds can occur on their part and most importantly – how to counteract this? As a result, everyone came to the conclusion that we need to be careful with the documents we sign, and also not agree to work for organizations whose reputation is suspicious from a legal point of view. It is also worth being careful abroad when trying to find a job there. However, if trouble has already happened, the organizers told us about the mechanisms that can help in these situations, such as support hotlines and international institutions.
At the end of the training, everyone reflected on what they heard and happily shared what they had learned here. For our students, this information was very interesting and will definitely not be superfluous in the future.
