LTSNU and Myrhorod – Partnership for Education and Development

On August 15, 2025, a working meeting of the university leadership with the city mayor, Serhii Solomakha, was held in the city of Myrhorod.

On August 15, 2025, a working meeting of the leadership of the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University with the city mayor Serhiy Solomakha was held in the city of Myrhorod to discuss further cooperation between the city authorities and the higher education institution, which currently operates on the basis of relocated units in Myrhorod.

The meeting was attended by:

• Olena KARAMAN – Rector of LTSNU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor.
• Vitalii KURYLO – Chairman of the Academic Council of LTSNU, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor.
• Serhii SOLOMAHA – Chairman of the Myrhorod City Council.
• Antonina NIKITCHENKO – Head of the Executive Committee of the Myrhorod City Council.
• Yevhen POKHNO – Director of the Myrhorod Special School of the Poltava Regional Council.

During the meeting, issues of further cooperation were discussed, including:

• ensuring a safe learning environment;
• improving living conditions for students and teachers;
• implementing joint educational and cultural projects.

Representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University expressed gratitude for the hospitality of the community and cooperation. Rector Olena Leonidivna Karaman emphasized: “We are sincerely grateful to the Myrhorod community for the warm welcome and constant support. For many of our students and teachers, this city has become a second home. We strive for our university to not only continue the educational process at a high level, but also to actively develop, introduce innovations and participate in the life of the community. With joint efforts, we will be able to provide our applicants with high-quality education and decent learning conditions even in the most difficult circumstances.”

Serhii Solomakha, Mayor of Myrhorod, emphasized the importance of preserving and developing educational potential even in wartime: “We highly appreciate the mission carried out by Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The Myrhorod community is ready to continue supporting the institution, because education is an investment in our future.”

The meeting resulted in agreements on:

• joint planning of events in the new academic year;
• strengthening the material and technical base;
• participation of the university in educational and cultural initiatives of the Myrhorod community.

Such cooperation gives LTSNU the opportunity to work stably, develop infrastructure and create favorable conditions for the study and life of students and teachers. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University remains open to new ideas, partnerships and projects, because our common goal is strong education for a strong future of Ukraine.
