Ukrainian Statehood Day

On July 15, solemn events were held in the city of Lubny on the occasion of Ukrainian Statehood Day.

The symbolic center of memory and dignity of this day was the Square of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, where a rally and prayer service were held for Ukraine, its defenders and all those who fight for the freedom and independence of our state at the cost of their own lives.

The event was attended by the leadership of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, teachers, students, representatives of local authorities, military personnel, youth, activists and caring residents of the city.

The celebrations began with a national minute of silence – those present honored the memory of the fallen Heroes. The National Anthem of Ukraine solemnly sounded over the square, uniting all those present in pride for their Motherland.

In his speech, the Mayor Oleksandr Hrytsayenko recalled the thousand-year history of the formation of statehood, recalled important events of the past and the current heroic feats of Ukrainian defenders who continue to fight for the free future of Ukraine.

The Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Professor Olena Karaman, was invited to speak, and she noted that Lubny is a symbolic city for celebrating this holiday, because it is located in the very heart of Ukraine and has long been a center of enlightenment, spirituality, and state-building traditions.

– Statehood is not only history. It is a responsibility that we bear every day in our actions. Today, our strength lies in unity, in knowledge, and in faith in Ukraine. And every student, every teacher, every Ukrainian is the creator of a future strong state, – emphasized Olena Leonidivna.

After the speeches, those present laid flowers at the memorial sign to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, honoring those who forever remained in the ranks.

The Ukrainian Statehood Day in Lubny was held sincerely, elevated, and with faith in Victory. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University will continue to actively participate in all initiatives that strengthen Ukrainian society, establish patriotic education and form a new, conscious generation.
