Scientific and Practical Seminar

A scientific and practical seminar “Anatolii Stepanovych Zelenko: Scientist and Teacher” (to the 90th anniversary of his birth) was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism.

On June 18, at the invitation of the Ukrainian Language Department, scientific and pedagogical workers of higher education institutions, pedagogical workers of secondary education institutions, and students took part in a discussion of the scientific achievements of Professor Anatolii Stepanovych Zelenko.

The purpose of the scientific and practical seminar was to update the problems of Ukrainian dialectology, lexicology, lexicography, semasiology, general linguistics, cognitology, and linguodidactics, highlighted in the works of A. S. Zelenko, and to create a general scientific portrait of the scientist and teacher.

The seminar program included a discussion of current issues of research and functioning of the Ukrainian language from the perspective of Professor Anatolii Zelenko’s scientific concept: linguistic methodology, general linguistics, lexicology, lexicography, semasiology, cognitology, and linguodidactics.

The seminar participants shared their memories of working with Anatolii Stepanovych Zelenko, and during a panel discussion they discussed the issues of interaction between a teacher and students, the importance of developing in them motivation for learning and the competencies necessary for becoming a future specialist, etc.
