Opera “Nocturne”: Premiere by Students

The premiere of the student performance took place on the Poltava stage of the theater.

On May 29, an event occurred that is, without exaggeration, a landmark for the Department of Musical Art and Choreography and the entire Educational and Research Institute of Arts. The premiere of the opera “Nocturne” by Mykola Lysenko, performed by students of the department’s opera studio, took place on the stage of the Poltava Academic Regional Puppet Theater.

This performance, created from scratch by our own efforts – from the idea to the last note. From studying the parts and rehearsals to making costumes and scenery, everything happened with the hands and hearts of our students and teachers. It was a real creative process: with mistakes and discoveries, excitement and inspiration, friendly hugs behind the scenes and sincere emotions on stage.

The director of the performance was Yanina Vyshegorodska, the accompanists were Kateryna Skakun and Olena Ponomarenko, and the choreographer was a 4th-year student, Polina Moroz. All the performers and the ballet are our talented students.

This production is not just about music. It is about the team, the path to the stage and the love of the cause. And about the importance of Ukrainian culture today. We made it with love – for the music, for the stage, for the audience. And we are very grateful to everyone who was with us in the theatre on May 29.
