Participation in the Strategic Session
5.6.2025
Representatives of the ER ISHS participated in the strategic session in Kyiv.
Teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences – Yulia Serhiivna Nuzhna and Kateryna Mykhailivna Kotelenets, from the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, as well as Yevheniya Serhiivna Shevtsova, from the Department of History and Archaeology, – took part in the strategic session, which was held on June 3–4, 2025 in Kyiv.
The organizers were the NGO “Public Initiative of Luhansk Oblast”, the VGO “Association for Promoting Self-Organization of the Population”, the NGO “Center for Political and Legal Reforms” and the NGO “Renaissance and Development Association” within the framework of the project “Involving the Public of Eastern Ukraine in the Restoration of Their Communities: Phase II” with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
During the event, issues of establishing cooperation between the authorities and the public of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions were raised. They discussed barriers to communication, stereotypes that hinder mutual understanding, looked for ways to build trust and formed a common vision of the role of the East in the future of the state.
The participation of representatives of the ER ISHS was important both from an academic and practical point of view. They joined in developing strategies, relying on their pedagogical experience, knowledge of the needs and challenges of educational institutions, as well as on deep philosophical, sociological and historical knowledge and their own experience of civic activism.
This is an example of how university teachers take an active part in socially important processes in the Luhansk region. The educational and scientific community does not remain aloof from the challenges that society faces, but on the contrary – is included in solving problems, participates in dialogue, and forms new approaches to support the community of the region.
