Security and Defense: Ukraine’s Role in the Euro-Atlantic Space”

On June 4, the Brianka Professional College held a thematic event “Security and Defense: Ukraine’s Role in the Euro-Atlantic Space.”

In accordance with paragraph 16.3 of the action plan for the implementation of the Communication Strategy on Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine for the period until 2025, approved by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated January 12, 2022 No. 41-r, on June 4, the thematic event “Security and Defense: Ukraine’s Role in the Euro-Atlantic Space” was held at the Brianka Professional College of LTSNU. The purpose of the event was to expand the knowledge of students about Ukraine’s place in the European and transatlantic security system, as well as discuss the prospects for cooperation with NATO.

The event was held in an interactive format, which allowed students not only to gain new knowledge, but also to take an active part in the discussions.

During the event, a brief overview of key aspects of Ukraine’s security was provided, including:

– Main threats and challenges for our state.
– NATO’s role in ensuring collective security.
– Military reforms in Ukraine and their significance for Euro-Atlantic integration.

Discussed “Is Ukraine ready for NATO membership?” and also:

– What steps have already been taken (standardization of the army, compatibility with the Alliance forces).
– What else needs to be changed for full membership?

Modeled “Future Scenarios”. Students, together with college teachers, analyzed and presented various options for the development of events:

– How will Ukraine’s security change after joining NATO?

– What to do if integration is delayed?

Today, the issue of security is one of the most urgent for Ukraine, and we must understand that NATO is not just a military bloc, but a system of collective defense, that Ukraine is already part of the Euro-Atlantic community through common values and cooperation.

Every citizen can contribute to security – from supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine to information warfare.

And let’s remember that Ukraine’s security is the business of each of us. Together – towards a strong and independent state in the Euro-Atlantic community!
