Safety Above All: A civil defense training was held at the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
On May 28, 2025, a civil defense training was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in accordance with the plan for practical training of management and specialists whose activities are related to the organization and implementation of security measures. The event brought together students, teachers, employees and technical workers of the university, demonstrating a high level of responsibility of our staff to security issues in the face of modern challenges.
The theoretical part of the classes was held in the LTSNU shelter, where the leading civil defense specialist Olena Sushko and the leading specialist of the labor protection department Olha Mosina familiarized those present with the basics of organizing civil defense, algorithms for actions in case of emergencies and rules of conduct during air raids, fires, man-made threats or other dangers. Particular attention was paid to the structure of the civil defense system of Ukraine, the evacuation procedure, the provision of first aid and personal protective equipment. Participants received answers to current questions that arise during real threats.
The practical part of the training took place in an open area near the university building. A specialist from the State Emergency Service was involved in the event, who conducted instructions and a demonstration on the correct use of fire extinguishers. Students and employees had the opportunity to independently practice the skills of extinguishing a simulated fire. Such classes form not only technical training, but also psychological readiness to act clearly and without panic in dangerous situations.
The training covered a wide range of participants – from students to administrative and technical staff, which emphasizes the comprehensive approach of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University to safety in its educational environment.
Such training is extremely important not only from the point of view of prevention, but also as an integral part of forming a culture of safety in society. After all, in critical situations, it is awareness, speed of reaction and practiced actions that can save lives.
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University continues to care about the safety of every member of the university community. At LTSNU, safety is not a formality, but a priority. The knowledge gained during such events is an invaluable contribution to the protection of life and health.
Let’s remember: in today’s conditions, being informed means being protected. Together we are a force, together we are a responsible and safe university environment!
