All-Ukrainian Webinar “Modern Trends in Social Work”

On May 27, the 16th edition of the All-Ukrainian Webinar “Modern Trends in Social Work” was held on the topic: “Experience of Implementing the Canadian-Ukrainian Project “Trauma-Informed Strategies for Educators Supporting Students in War Zones.”
The event is organized by the Social Pedagogy Department of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The speaker of the next edition of the webinar was Olena DULOVA, a family and crisis psychologist, a leader of trainings and support groups, a consultant of the psychological assistance platform “PORUCH” for adolescents, youth, parents and educators, individual and family psychological counseling, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a member of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and the executive director of the Florence Non-profit Organization.
The webinar was attended by more than 100 listeners – representatives of the social sphere, scientists, students, and specialists in practical social work from different regions of Ukraine. Representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University were students of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education majoring in 231 “Social Work” under the educational program “Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology”.
The webinar participants had the opportunity to learn about the key principles of the trauma-informed approach, relevant tools for psychological support of children and adolescents living in war conditions, as well as with the practical aspects of implementing the Canadian-Ukrainian project in educational institutions.
Special attention was paid to the importance of emotional awareness of teachers, the formation of a safe environment in educational institutions, the ability to identify manifestations of traumatic experiences in children, as well as the role of interdisciplinary interaction in the process of socio-pedagogical support.
The event was held in the format of a live dialogue, where the participants actively asked questions, discussed the challenges they face in their professional activities, and shared their own experiences.
Holding such webinars is an important component of the professional growth of future social workers and teachers, contributes to the dissemination of best practices in psychosocial support and the development of the professional community in the context of today’s humanitarian challenges.
