Participation in the Event “Government Is Open to Youth”

On 22 May, Poltava hosted the event “Government Open to Youth”, organised by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

This event was part of the Open Government Week and aimed to engage young people in the process of building openness and transparency in the activities of executive authorities and local self-government.

The event was attended by Sofia Nedohybchenko, Student Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. She told the audience about the history of the university, education and specialities of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism, in particular, the speciality «Philology. Oriental Languages and Literatures (translation inclusive), the first one being Chinese. Language and Literature (Chinese, English)».

During the event, the participants discussed the development of civil society, youth participation in decision-making and effective interaction with the authorities. The students learned how they can already influence the development of small territorial communities and heard practical advice from those who have gone from student government to positions in government.

In the end, the participants shared their impressions, asked questions and expressed their wishes for future topics for discussion. A warm conversation and a joint photo with the speakers were a great end to the meeting, giving inspiration for a long time.

The meeting was held in an extremely friendly atmosphere with a touch of humour – thank you for the creative paper hats!
