On May 16, the All-Ukrainian Seminar “Libraries of Relocated Universities: New Challenges – New Opportunities” was held at Kherson State University.
During the panel discussion, well-known scholars in the field of social communications and leading experts from various libraries in Ukraine delivered their reports. The seminar was moderated by Serhii Omelchuk, First Vice-Rector of Kherson State University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor.
Our university was also honored to be invited to speak, in particular, the library director spoke at the panel discussion “Libraries of Displaced Universities in New Realities” with a report “Library of a Displaced University: Losses, Opportunities, Prospects (on the Example of the Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University)”.
Alla Koval, director of the scientific library of Kherson State University, “Forced Transformation — Internal Strength: KhSU Scientific Library in Wartime” shared her experience of working during forced displacement; Olga Bilotska, Director of the Scientific Library of the Tavria State Agro-Technological University named after Dmytro Motorny “Scientific Library of the Tavria State Agro-Technological University in the Realities of a Displaced University and Full-Scale War”.
The seminar was held with lively discussions, because the problems faced by libraries of higher education institutions have become painful for more than 40 university libraries.
It is pleasant to note that the library community is not sad, but is trying to turn challenges into new opportunities.
We hope for further cooperation with both the organizers and the participants of the seminar. And we express our sincere gratitude to the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to present their achievements.
