Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity

A representative of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in a meeting on the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity.

On May 21, 2025, on the occasion of the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity, an online meeting was held with the participation of the Shyrokivsk Rural Military Administration, the Coordination Center for Assistance to IDPs of the Luhansk Oblast in the Odesa Oblast, as well as an invited representative of the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University – Anton Nazmiiev.

Anton Nazmiiev – Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychology of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, Doctor of Philosophy, Head of the Center for Psychological Recovery and Adaptation, Practical Psychologist of the Children’s Villages Social Welfare Organization – gave a thematic discussion “A Psychological Perspective on the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity”.

The values of mutual respect, tolerance, and acceptance of cultural, linguistic, and ethnic differences were at the center of the dialogue. Mr. Nazmiiev emphasized that harmonious coexistence in a multicultural environment builds emotional stability, strengthens social cohesion and promotes post-conflict reconstruction in war conditions.

The meeting was held under the symbolic slogan: “Everyone has their own voice, but we have one heart”, uniting the participants around the idea of unity in diversity.

The celebration of the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity is part of Ukraine’s European progress. This is another step on the path to European integration, because respect for the rights of minorities, linguistic identity, and cultural heritage are the fundamental principles of the European Union.

The purpose of such meetings is to contribute to the formation of an open, humane society in which every person, regardless of origin, feels needed, heard, and recognized. This is especially important during the period of adaptation of internally displaced persons and the construction of post-war Ukraine, where mutual understanding and trust should become the foundation of the future.
